Warranties honored…after all
I blogged recently about my experience trying to get Logitech to honor their warranty on a defective G5 optical mouse that had become unusable for me. To summarize, they made it so difficult for me to get a warranty echange/repair I decided the value of the mouse wasn’t worth the amount of time I was wasting with Logitech. I decided to simply throw my mouse in the trash and discontinue doing business with Logitech out of protest.
Then I remembered I bought the mouse from Newegg.com. I have nothing but good things to say about Newegg. They have a good selection of geek stuff, good prices, great service, and fast delivery. You can also post product reviews on their site. So I decided to go post a negative review of the Logitech G5 mouse (the mouse is still great, but the warranty is a problem), which I did. While at the Newegg site I discovered they also handle warranty claims. I thought surely they aren’t going to exchange my mouse after nearly a year.
I was wrong. I submitted a RMA request to Newegg, which they provided to my email inbox almost immediately. I returned the mouse, and had a brand new replacement within days. I have to say, “Newegg rocks!!!” They really are great to deal with. I always go there first when looking for stuff.
I still posted the negative review of Logitech, and my decision to discontinue buying Logitech product stands.
And after almost two months my replacement mouse still works correctly, with no other changes to the system. The original was indeed defective.
