This year I bought a Canon camcorder and a video mount for my car. I wanted this so I could record my progress at car club (BMWCCA, PCA, SCCA) high performance driving events. I had one of my best sessions yet this year at Gateway International Raceway (9 July 2006) in my 2005 E46 M3 coupe. I finally got around to extracting a few laps to post. Here’s the video of some 3 1/2 laps or so of me chasing down a few cars. The entire session was about 14 laps or so. These laps are near the beginning after I got the tires heated.

This was one of my best sessions ever. I passed the field and lapped a couple cars. Only the fastest in the group passed me, and it took him until about the penultimate lap to catch me. My instructor, Bob Mondschein, was great. He really helped me make big improvements.

OK, so my times won’t scare off the SCCA club racers, but it sure is a blast.

Thanks. The shots are done by a photog who’s a club member and does a lot of our track events. He’s one of those Canon people though. ;-)
