After a very long 24-year drought, the Cardinals came away with the 2006 World Series win last night. This is the third one since I’ve been in St. Louis: 1967, 1982, and now 2006. I got really excited in 2004 when I thought they would win again, only to get swept by the Red Sox. This year I kept my excitement to a low murmur, so that I wouldn’t get disappointed if they lost. So now I get to be pleasantly surprised & really excited that they won instead, and I am. Unfortunately, I did not get to attend the game.

Congratulations to the entire Cardinals organization & to the St. Louis fans: the best baseball team and the best baseball fans on the planet.

Hey Cardinal Nation! (Obviously that includes you Dean)
Like you, I just couldn’t allow myself to invest too much emotionally considering the September performance. However, that said, anything can happen in the postseason, and this postseason proved just that. As we Cardinal fans have learned, there is so much more that goes into a World Series Championship than the regular season record. Toss that thing out girls and boys. Be ready to be crushed or elevated. As unlikely that this may have seemed, our guys earned this championship one game at a time, one series at a time. Congrats all!
